Glazed Donuts

Who doesn’t love glazed donuts? Join Dawn Carver as she teaches you techniques using the Jaybird Quilt rulers Hex n’ More and Super Side Kick.  This is for the intermediate quilter who may have already used the Jaybird quilt rulers or someone who wants to challenge themselves with fun shapes by learning new techniques.

Students must show up and be prepared to start class at 10:00 a.m. This is a full day class.  We will take an hour long lunch break at noon.

Beginning Piecing

In this class you will learn the basics of cutting your fabric, stitching with a 1/4″ seam allowance and piecing your rows together. You will learn basic techniques of a 4-patch and flying geese blocks. By the end of the day you will have a nearly completed wall hanging or table topper.

Students must show up and be prepared to start class at 9:00 a.m. This is a full day class.  We will take an hour long lunch break at noon.

Date: Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Skill Level: Beginner
Requirements: 1 yard focus fabric, 1/2 year of light background fabric, 1/4 yard of medium fabric, 1/8 hard of dark fabric, 3/8 yard for inner border. You will need a sewing machine in good working order and the operator’s manual. Sewing machine needles (90/14), 50 wt thread such as Mettler or Aurifil, 2 pre-wound bobbins, 6″ x 24″ acrylic ruller, 6″ square acrylic ruler, Rotary cutter, Cutting mat at least 18″ x 24″, Seam riper, Pins, Marking Pencil, Quarter inch sewing foot, Paper for notes and a pencil.

Rag Quilt

A Rag quilt is a easy beginner quilt. This is one of those quilts that can be made as a gift for someone or just for fun. When the quilt is completed it is done. You don’t have to worry about getting it quilted in the end. In this class you will learn basic techniques like cutting strips using an acrylic ruler and rotary cutter and basic sewing information.

Date: Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Requirements:  Sewing machine in good working order and owners manual,  walking foot if you have one for your machine, flannel fabric, batting, two spools of good quality cotton thread (50 weight) in a color to match your fabric selection, three pre-wound bobbins, scissors, chalk pencil, 12 1/2″ acrylic ruler, and 18 x 24 cutting mat.

Beginning Paper Piecing

In this class you will learn the basics of paper piecing a Mariner’s Compass using the freezer paper method.  The compass can be made into a small wall hanging or  a pillow.  By the end of the day you will have learned the technique and should be near completion.

Students must show up and be prepared to start class at 10:00 a.m.  We will have an hour lunch break at 12:30.

Date: Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Requirements: 1 yard of background fabric and 5 fat quarters of complimentary and contrasting colors, 12″ Add a Quarter ruler,  four sheets of freezer paper (I will have sheets available for purchase at $0.41/sheet during class).  You will need a sewing machine in good working order and the operator’s manual. Sewing machine needles (90/14), 50 wt thread such as Mettler or Aurifil, 2 pre-wound bobbins, 6″ x 24″ acrylic ruler, Rotary cutter, Cutting mat at least 18″ x 24″, Seam riper, Pins, Marking Pencil, Quarter inch sewing foot, Paper for notes and a pencil.

Registration Policy

Student Expectations
Students are expected to show up on time for class and be prepared to learn.  Please be respectful of others and their desire to learn.  Class supplies should be purchased prior to class.

Class & Club Fees/Registration
Register early, as class/club space is limited. Payment must be received prior to class/club to guarantee a spot. Please remember that if payment is not made, you are NOT registered.

You may call with your credit card info or come into the store. Once you pay for your class, you will receive a supply list. If you have required supplies at home, by all means, bring them. If not, we would appreciate it if you would purchase the supplies from us. We’ll offer you a 10% discount on the fabric, tools, and other class supplies purchased from Quilt Essentials.  If there is no registration fee then there isn’t a 10% discount.

Cancellation Policy
We have a 7 day cancellation policy. If you cancel 7 days in advance, your class/club fee can be transferred to another class/club or be used as store credit. If you cancel in less than 7 days, you forfeit your fee.
