Rag Quilt Class

Come join in the fun and learn how to make a Rag quilt.  These are easy to put together quilts and great for beginners and make great gifts for family and friends.  This is an all-day class with some cutting prior to class.

  • 12 yards of assorted flannels cut into 240 – 8” squares
  • Twin batting cut into 120 – 6” squares
  • 2 large spools of 50 wt cotton thread
  • Denim needles 90/14 recommended
  • Sewing machine in good working order with walking foot

More Pineapple Blocks, Table runner Class

Did you take the previous Pineapple Block class from us?  We have discovered a new pattern using the same ruler and can’t wait to share it with you.  Come learn about the Pineapple Block ruler or more about the ruler you already have. Class participants will make a 18″ x 37″ table runner.  If you want to make it longer please buy additional fabric.  Please cut the the following prior to class:

Contrasting fabric: cut 5 – 1 3/4″ x WOF of each

Background fabric: cut 1 – 2 1/2″ x WOF and 2 – 3 1/2″ x WOF.

  • Cut Loose On Point Runner pattern
  • Creative Grid Pineapple Trim ruler (CGRJAW3)
  • 1/3 yard of each light background and two contrasting fabrics
  • 1/4 yard for binding
  • Sewing machine in good working order and the operator’s manual
  • Sewing machine needles (90/14)
  • 50 wt thread such as Mettler or Aurifil, 2 pre-wound bobbins
  • Acrylic ruler to cut 7″ sections

Make a set of place mats for any occasion using pre-cut 2-1/2in fabric strips and Soft and Stable. A modified quilt- as-you-go method and fold over self-binding make assembly quick and easy.

Come learn how to assemble one of the classic heritage quilt blocks.  These blocks are easy to assemble and can create a multitude of designs.

Beginning Piecing

In this class you will learn the basics of cutting your fabric, stitching with a 1/4″ seam allowance and piecing your rows together. You will learn basic techniques of a 4-patch and flying geese blocks. By the end of the day, you will have a nearly completed wall hanging or table topper.

Mama Bear’s Paws Quilt Class

Studio 180 Design pattern using the Split Rects ruler.  Learn how to make this beautiful lap quilt with simple blocks.  This is an intermediate class.  The expectation is that you will be able to sew a 1/4” seam allowance, trim blocks and work independently with direction from the instructor.  There is a requirement to cut fabric prior to the class day.

Cut 15 strips 4” x hwof (this is 1 strip from all 10 and an additional strip from 5 of the 10)

Cut 50 3 ½” squares (5 – 3 ½” squares from each FQ)

Background fabric:

Cut 8 strips 4” x wof

Cut 5 strips 3 ½” x wof; subcut into 50 3 ½” square

Cut 4 strips 6 ½” x wof; set 2 strips aside and subcut 2 strips into 34 rectangles 1 ¾” x 6 ½” and 16 rectangles 1 ¼” x 6 ½”.

Cut 2 strips 1 ½” x wof

Accent fabric:

Cut 2 strips 1 ¾” x wof

Cut 4 squares 1 ¼”

Border fabric:

T-Shirt Quilt Class

Have you been saving T-shirts? Do you want to make a T-Shirt quilt for that special someone or for yourself? This is the class for you. You will learn how to prepare the t-shirts to be pieced into a quilt and learn tips and tricks from Dawn. Students must know how to cut fabric, sew a ¼” seam and square up fabric. Please show up on time.

Supply list: This is for a 3×3 T-shirt quilt. (This does not include the borders.)

  • Minimum of 9 t-shirts
  • 2.5 yards woven stabilizer (not interfacing)
  • ¾ yard cotton fabric for 5 frames
  • 5/8 yard cotton fabric for 4 frames

  • 12 ½ square ruler if you have one (15 ½ inch square is also handy)

Registration Policy

Student Expectations
Students are expected to show up on time for class and be prepared to learn.  Please be respectful of others and their desire to learn.  Class supplies should be purchased prior to class.

Class & Club Fees/Registration
Register early, as class/club space is limited. Payment must be received prior to class/club to guarantee a spot. Please remember that if payment is not made, you are NOT registered.

You may call with your credit card info or come into the store. Once you pay for your class, you will receive a supply list. If you have required supplies at home, by all means, bring them. If not, we would appreciate it if you would purchase the supplies from us. We’ll offer you a 15% discount on the fabric, tools, and other class supplies purchased from Quilt Essentials.  If there is no registration fee then there isn’t a 15% discount.

Cancellation Policy
We have a 7 day cancellation policy. If you cancel 7 days in advance, your class/club fee can be transferred to another class/club or be used as store credit. If you cancel in less than 7 days, you forfeit your fee.
