August 2016

I don’t know where the summer has gone. I looked at the calendar today and thought where did July go? The kids will go back to school in just a few weeks and I hope the weather begins to cool down. We have had an interesting month in the shop, which leads me to deal with an unfounded rumor that seems to be going around. Quilt Essentials is NOT closing!  We have had many quilters come into the shop who seem to have heard differently. I have not thought of, discussed or even considered closing at any point and time. I love the shop and love our quilting family. The shop has existed as a quilt shop since 2002. I purchased Quilt Essentials in April 2014 with the desire to continue what the founders taught me, which is a love of quilting, friendship and a place to call home. I hope to be in business for many, many more years to come and cannot do it without quilters like you! I have added a basket to the front of the shop for you to tell us what you want to see in the shop or what we are doing right. You can always send me an email too. I want to hear what you have to say.

The registration deadline is approaching for the Quilt Essential’s UnFinished Objects (UFO) quilt retreat on Oct. 20-23, 2016. We will gather at Sunlight Meadows Ranchon Oct. 20th at 3:00. Sunlight Meadows Ranch is at 1000 Dear Meadows Way, Livermore, CO 80536. It is about 45 miles from Laramie and 15 minutes from Red Feather Lakes. Bring whatever projects you are working on. We’ll spend time quilting, laughing, eating and forming new friendships and strengthen old friendships all while enjoying the fall scenery.  Registration fee is $275.  The fee covers lodging and meals.

This month we have a lot of classes scheduled including Second Saturday Sampler (bring your finished quilts), Kid’s Camp, Dresden Plates, and Spirals Table Topper. I hope you will join us for one of them. Make sure to check out the Quilt Essentials calendar or follow us on Facebook for more information.  We will also be seeing the newest design of the Steamboat fabric arrive at the shop.  There are pictures posted to the New Fabric.  Steamboat will be 4″ tall and the “W” is 2″ tall.  This should make it easier to use in many quilt patterns.

Happy Quilting,
Kara
