May 2016

May is here and I’m hoping it brings warmer weather and less snow. The last storm was a doozy. Electricity was out in several areas around town. April was a busy month in the shop. We took a little breather, but we are back in the groove. The shop is full of new samples of beautiful quilts.

This weekend is Mother’s day and we thought it might be nice to host a mother/daughter or mother/son event. Please join us on Saturday at 1:00 to participate in an Apron Afternoon. Dawn will teach you how to make our favorite “Four Corner” apron. RSVP to Kara at Kara@quiltessentials.org by Friday, May 6.  The apron supplies will be 10% off. Help us celebrate Mother’s day.

The Advanced Sampler club will meet May 14th for their monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. We are getting closer to the end. There has been a lot of work go into these quilts. If you can’t make it please get in touch with me so I can give you all the information to catch up.

This month is the last month for Second Saturday Sampler until August. This group will meet at 10:30 a.m. We’ll take a break during June and July. We’ll discuss finishing your quilt and next year’s BOM.  If you have missed any of the classes you can always catch up by checking out the website. Instructions are posted there after each month. Don’t forget to bring your show and tell.

I’ll be out of the shop May 19-22 at the QE UFO Quilt Retreat. Watch Facebook for pictures from the event. We are looking forward to the time with quilting friends.  Remember to sign up for Facebook notifications to get the most updated information from the shop. Check our calendar for other upcoming events.

Happy Quilting,
Kara
